A children's workshop at the Van Gogh Foundation

"Nature humaine, Humaine nature" is the title of the exhibition at the Van Gogh Foundation in Arles which opened on November 11.

The many artworks presented question the place of man in nature and his behavior towards it.

As part of this theme, the Foundation hired me to conduct an olfactory initiation workshop aimed at children aged 8 to 12.

Inspired by the artwork of Nigerian artist Otobong Nkanga, who denounces the exploitation of underground resources by men in Arched Gorges (2021), I guided the children in the creation of their own scent of this work, drawing inspiration from its colours and the materials it is made of.

What a joy to see so much frenzy in smelling and creating their own perfume, which I weighed at the end of the workshop with my precision scales and they took home their creation which "smells so good"!
