A photo and perfume workshop at the Van Gogh Foundation
Last week I had the pleasure of leading a four-day workshop at the Van Gogh Foundation in Arles. Participants were introduced to my multi-sensory practice: creating perfumes inspired by their own photographs from the exhibition "Laura Owens and Vincent van Gogh".
After photographing the exhibition and choosing their favorite photographs, we smelled, one by one, more than fifty materials that they were going to use to create their perfumes.
Then came the composition phase itself. Starting with one of their photographs, I guided them to put words and ideas on what the imagery evoked for them and to associate olfactory materials.
It was a real pleasure to witness such commitment, curiosity and joy in creating, modifying and achieving their olfactory ideas.
At the end of the workshop, each person presented their favorite perfume to the other members of the group, as well as the photograph that inspired it.
I would like to thank the Foundation and the mediators. A great experience to be hopefully repeated.
